Carmen is a Partner at Newsome O’Donnell and has been with the firm since its founding in 2012. She devotes her practice exclusively to family law matters, including complex matrimonial litigation, mediation, business valuations, alimony, equitable distribution, child custody, child support, pre-nuptial agreements and domestic violence.  Carmen focuses a considerable portion of her practice representing parents of children with special needs. She is also a family law mediator and trained Collaborative Divorce attorney.

Carmen understands that divorce is difficult. No two families are the same. With this in mind she prides herself on crafting resolutions tailored to the unique concerns and issues of her individual clients. Carmen believes that there is no problem, big or small, that can not be solved. Carmen utilizes her vast experience in litigation, negotiation and mediation to guide her clients through the divorce process to a final resolution which achieves the client’s specific objective.

Carmen has been licensed to practice law in the state of New Jersey since 2007. Carmen graduated cum laude from Quinnipiac University School of Law in Hamden, CT in 2007 and received her B.S. from The College of New Jersey in 2003, where she also graduated cum laude. Prior to private practice she served as the Judicial Law Clerk to the Honorable Severiano Lisboa, III, of the Chancery Division, Family Part of Hudson County.

In addition to her legal practice, Carmen is also actively involved in various legal organizations and associations. Carmen is a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association, as well as both the Morris County Bar Association, Bergen County Bar Association, Essex County Bar Association and the Hispanic Bar Association. Carmen currently serve as a Trustee to the Essex County Bar Association. Carmen has been nationally ranked by the National Academy of Family Law Attorneys as a Top 10 Lawyer under 40, recognized for her Excellence in the field of Family Law. Carmen has similarly been selected for inclusion in the Super Lawyers Rising Stars list.
